April 2004 Newsletter
This will be one of the most difficult newsletters I have ever written. I must announce to you that our beloved Eva is leaving HCM. She is moving to California to be with her husband, who was recently hired as a general manager for one of the largest construction companies in the USA. Her last day at our school will be April 9th.
The staff has been mourning the loss of Eva for the past few weeks. She is like a sister to us all. Like Sharon said, "It will never again be the same." Eva has been with us for over 7 years and is loved by all. The children will be extremely sad to see her go. We plan to announce her leaving on Monday of this week.
Our only consolation is that our dear Melissa Borgen, previous horseback riding instructor, will be returning from Colorado to take her place. Melissa has worked for the past several years with our staff in the riding program and will slip right in, knowing many of the kids and knowing all of our horses. She spent the last few years receiving her training as an Equestrian instructor and trainer at a school in Colorado. Melissa will start in June and Kelsey will teach in the interim. (Kelsey teaches horseback riding every Thursday at HCM)
We would like to invite everyone to say a final goodbye to Eva, April 9th @ 11am-12pm. Bring in a potluck dish for a fun-filled luncheon.
If Eva had her druthers she would stay right where she is. This has been very difficult for her and we want to send her off with all our best wishes for a successful future. None of us at HCM could have asked for a better friend and co-worker, we want to thank her from the bottom of our hearts for her undying commitment to the children, families and staff. "Girlfriend, we will love you a lifetime and beyond, thanks for loving our children, our horses, and all of us. People like you only come around once in a life time ..we were fortunate to have you for as long as we did."
Bring in your tissues and come help us say good-bye to our dear friend and teacher.
To help us make this week a celebration of the time we've all spent together, we will have a special 'fun event' each day this week.
Spring Break: Please sign your child up on the list for the week of April 5-9. This includes the toddler class. Only sign up for your childís regular schedule. Half-day children will not attend school this week.
Messages: Do not write messages on the white board. Leave any and all messages on a piece of paper and place it on my desk. Thank you, the state requires all notices to be in writing on a piece of paper. Our board is only for messages written by us.
Music Studies: This month we will study the Orchestra. We will learn the various members of the families that belong to the orchestra.
Easter falls on the Sunday after Spring Break. Due to the timing of this holiday, we will plan a small sized egg hunt April 9th, the day of Eva's going away party. If you wish to participate, please bring in 1 doz. plastic eggs filled with a small treat.
We wish to congratulate Brandon's family on the arrival of their new baby, Justin. He is beautiful. We also want to say good-bye to our very dear friends, the Whytlaw family, as they are moving to Texas. They will be missed soooooooooooooooooo much. We just love their little family.
We continue to be amazed with all of your children's progress, academically and emotionally. There is no greater treasure than these small children that we are so blessed to have at HCM.
Thank you one and all for another great month, hereís to a very special 'spring time' for us all.
Love, Janice, Ollie and staff
