January 2004 Newsletter

Welcome back from the Holidays. We want to thank everyone for the wonderful gifts, cards, well wishes and contributions. This year has come in with a blast of cold weather. Remember to dress your child warmly. Our school will close due to weather if the public schools close. Listen to your local weather channels for school closures. If you have an emergency, leave us a message as to who your emergency pick-up will be. Plan ahead to make sure you have an emergency back-up and pick-up person. (That also applies when your child is sick at school.) If it begins to snow during the day, we may need to contact you to pick-up your child before the dayís end. Please make sure all of your correct phone numbers are in our emergency book. Thank you so much. We absolutely love our families and will try to do everything from our side to help you in time of need.

Tuition is due. Please mark your payments in the payment record book. This month we are closed for Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 19th, Monday. This month has one early dismissal next Wed. Jan 14th There will also be half-day early dismissal for the entire week of parent child conferences. This affects our school-aged children. Please plan for these children to eat their lunches at Hazel Creek.

We will start off this month with an academic emphasis and begin our studies of Antarctica. (how perfect. . .brrrrrrr) Every year during extremely cold weather, we bring our horse lessons indoors and study the many aspects of the equestrian world. Swimming continues if the children are comfortable coming and going. They will always follow swimming with an indoor activity. There are very few days in the year that this is necessary, but it allows us to replace one form of activity with something equally as important and enriching that the children may otherwise not have a chance to experience. Please bring suits daily due to rotation of the various activities.

Babysitters Club will resume this weekend. You may sign up on the sheet that is posted. We will also prepare our student progress reports this month and post a sign-up sheet for parent/teacher conferences for the month of February.

Have a safe and wonderful New Year and please know how much we appreciate all of you.

Love, Janice, Ollie, family and Staff
