September 2004 Newsletter
We would like to welcome everyone to the Fall of 2004 at Hazel Creek Montessori. It is extremely difficult to fold up those summer lawn chairs after the extraordinary season we had. We will wrap up the summer with an "Autumn Celebration," Thursday, September 23rd.
We invite all the children to bring in a "harvest creature," made of veggies and such. They will go on display and be judged on Thursday for Farmers Market. Please have your child bring in one "quarter" and some "island grown" produce for purchasing. The children can wear their Farmer's clothes to school. If your child does not usually attend that day, you are welcome to bring them in for the "Market" for an hour @ 9:30am accompanied by a parent.
The daily schedule will be as follows: The children will be divided into groups of ten and attend their Montessori classroom for the first part of their day. Each group will rotate both am and pm to one additional activity including art, swimming, horse back riding, and Spanish.
We will post the curriculum weekly so you know what our studies will be for that week. We will be choosing a letter and number for the week and following a theme for each month. This week our number is 5 and our letter is "a." Please help your child count items at home in groups of five, and talk about words that start with the short vowel sound "a." Our theme is Harvest and Fall.
Reminders:
Dress your child appropriately for the weather. Mark their names on everything...boots, lunchboxes, coats, etc.
Only allow your child to wear shoes they can get on themselves quickly.
Do not drive fast in our driveways.....5 MILES/hour. Do not leave your car running once it is parked under ANY circumstances.
Address any and all concerns right away, we want to work with every family to come up with the best solutions possible.
Thank you. Here's to another great year!!!!!!!!!!! Love, Janice, Ollie and Staff
